The first days of December will be marked by animated Ljubljana, this year the Animateka is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Animateka it is international animated film festival, which brings animated images to Kinodvor and the Slovenian Cinematheque. It mainly focuses on the latest production of short animated films in Eastern and Central Europe. Animateka is a festival of a competitive nature, and films compete for prizes in the Competition Program, the European Student Competition Program and the Elephant Competition Program, which particularly impresses the youngest. In addition, the World Strawberry Selection should not be forgotten.
This time too, as every year, we can expect a series of domestic and foreign authors and experts, and it will be in the center a varied list of animated films. The organizers are particularly highlighting the Slovenian premiere of an entertaining full-length animated film A suicide shop (it was created by Patrice Leconte based on the book of the same name by Jean Teulé) and a feature film The Autobiography of Graham Chapman: The Untrue Story of a Monty Python Cast Member.
A short animated film was also included in the main competition program this year Pain of the Slovenian author Špela Čadež, which has already received 10 awards at festivals, and was among the nominees for the pan-European award for the best animated short film of the year, winning the main prize of the Romanian festival Anim'est. One of the red threads of this year's Animateka is also the animated film and dance retrospective, which will further stir up what is happening on and next to the screens, and this time the focus will be on a Czech animated film.
Because Animateka is celebrating this year, they have prepared jubilee ticket packages, lower prices for afternoon screenings and free reruns of the competition program.
