Xiaomi has officially launched its new Xiaomi 12S series, which was produced in collaboration with Leica. This extraordinary series of imaging products is the first highlight of the strategic partnership in imaging technology between Xiaomi and Leica.

Professional wide-angle camera with an extra-large 1-inch sensor
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is equipped with Sony's IMX989 1-inch sensor, which uses a Quad-Bayer pixel array with individual pixel sizes up to 1.6 μm. After combining the pixels, this reaches 3.2 μm, which reduces noise, extends the dynamic range, increases the captured light, and enables overall better images in low light conditions. This sets a precedent in smartphone cameras and approaches traditional cameras in terms of hardware specifications.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra is the first Android device to support Dolby Vision HDR video recording and playback. Dolby Vision enhances videos with vivid colors, a sharper contrast ratio and richer details, delivering vivid and refined picture quality.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra uses HyperOIS for extremely stable performance, which enables constant movement compensation during video recording. HyperOIS uses the gap between two frames to drive the OIS motor to its original position, giving each frame a full and effective range of stabilization.
The Xiaomi 12S and Xiaomi 12S Pro have Sony's IMX707 as their primary sensor, which includes both a large sensor size and large pixels, at 1/1.28 inches and 2.44μm after pixel binning. With the support of Xiaomi AI Image Solution and Xiaomi ProFocus, these sensors enable quick start, single capture and continuous image capture. The devices support industry-leading 30fps ultra-fast burst mode and exceptional low-light shooting capabilities. Developed in collaboration with Leica, the Xiaomi 12S series has been designed to be more photographer-friendly in post-production. The whole series supports 10-bit RAW format, calibrated by Adobe Labs with color correction metadata embedded in the files. When you use Adobe Lightroom to open photos taken with the Xiaomi 12S series, Adobe Camera RAW software automatically optimizes photos based on metadata, giving professional photographers a good starting point for further processing.
One smartphone, two Xiaomi Surge chips
Xiaomi 12S Ultra, produced in collaboration with Leica, is the first flagship equipped with two proprietary Xiaomi Surge chips, with a chipset for fast charging Xiaomi Surge P1 and a set of chips for Xiaomi Surge G1 battery management. The latter allows for major improvements in battery management and overall user experience.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra supports 67W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. The core of the Xiaomi Surge Battery Management System is a 4860mAh single-cell silicon-oxygen anode battery and the Xiaomi Surge P1 fast charging chipset, which also supports up to 16A output current with 96.8% conversion efficiency. In addition, the Xiaomi Surge G1 battery management chipset provides a set of self-developed battery management algorithms to protect the operational safety of the battery and monitor the discharge load to accurately predict the available battery life of the device itself. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra also supports adaptive charging, which prevents overcharging the battery and thus increases the number of charge cycles by 25 %.
The Xiaomi 12S Pro includes the Xiaomi Surge P1 fast charging chipset, 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and a 4600mAh single-cell battery, while the Xiaomi 12S offers 67W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and a 4500mAh battery.
Superior performance, superior display
The Xiaomi 12S series, which is Xiaomi's latest flagship series developed in collaboration with Leica, is powered by an all-new mobile platform Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, built on TSMC's 4 nm process. Compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 core is 21 % smaller, and both CPU and GPU have 10 % improved performance and 30 % improved energy efficiency. This not only significantly reduces the standby power consumption of the Xiaomi 12S series, but also allows for lower heat emission and power consumption in high-load computing scenarios.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is equipped with a completely new heat dissipation system, similar to the biological mechanism that leaves on a plant have to absorb water. Xiaomi 12S Ultra and Xiaomi 12S Pro have 6.73-inch AMOLED color screen with E5 luminescent material, which delivers professional levels of detail, brightness and color performance, in addition to 1500 nit peak brightness, 2K resolution, P3 color gamut and 1-120Hz AdaptiveSync Pro. The Xiaomi 12S is a bit more compact with just a 6.28-inch screen and also supports P3 color gamut display, HDR10+ and 120Hz AdaptiveSync.
Xiaomi also announced Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition, Xiaomi Book Pro 16, Xiaomi Book Pro 14, Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro and Xiaomi Home WiFi.
