Irregular visits to the dentist and poor oral hygiene are the main reasons why caries and periodontal disease are present in most people. Today, the fear of dentists should no longer be an excuse for irregular visits, as new technologies and approaches allow each individual to finally get rid of fear. But what about oral hygiene? Do we have the necessary knowledge and practice?
The perfect choice for healthy teeth and gums
The most important accessory is Toothbrush, with which, in the best case, we can only clean about 70 percent of the surface of the teeth and gums. To clean the remaining 30 percent, most people first think of dental floss, but various studies and also the practice in our dental office prove that most people do not use dental floss correctly; they often injure themselves with it and do not know how to estimate how deep they need to go into the interdental space. At the same time, floss is not effective in all interdental spaces, so it is more recommended to use it a suitable interdental brush. I recommend using dental floss only in places where we cannot insert even the smallest interdental brush.
How to choose the right interdental brush
Interdental brushes may seem difficult to use at first, but once you get used to them, you can't live without them. The first rule when using an interdental brush is to choose the correct size, and a special measuring probe can help us. Usually, to clean all interdental spaces, we need at least two or more different sizes. The choice of size is very important, because an interdental brush that is too small does not fill the entire interdental space and is therefore not maximally effective, and too large can injure us.
Easier than threading
Proper cleaning is also important, which is very easy, even more so than flossing. The interdental brush is gently inserted between two teeth, just above the gums. Carefully push it through the interdental space and then pull it out and rinse it under running water. Once in and out, once a day, preferably in the evening. It is important not to be afraid of bleeding, which is present especially at the beginning of its use. Bleeding gums are a sign of inflammation, which is the result of poor oral hygiene. Inflammation can therefore only be prevented with good hygiene.
