The "You're right" campaign was presented to the Slovenian public at the EU House in Ljubljana, which informs consumers about the rights they have in the European Union. The campaign was designed by the Directorate General for Justice and Consumers at the European Commission and will take place in 10 selected EU member states, including Slovenia.
Everyone likes to be right. But when it comes to consumer disputes, consumers can only be sure of their "rights" if they know consumer rights in the EU. From travel packages, refunds, product repairs or replacements, fair contract terms and credible advertising. The rights provided by the EU allow you to be satisfied and safe as a consumer.
Head of the Representation of the European Commission in the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Zoran Stančič, reminded at the press conference that "the EU guarantees us certain consumer rights and a high level of protection and assistance everywhere in the Union. European law protects us from illegal or unfair business practices; safety and consumer rights are an important part of all European Union policies."
Breda Kutin, president of the Consumers' Association of Slovenia, pointed out on this occasion:
Damijan Nacevski, ODMEV Agency, representative of the campaign operator in Slovenia, presented the visual image of the campaign and the planned course of activities. The "Imaš prav" campaign will take place in Slovenia between July 2019 and March 2020. The chosen topics of the campaign at the EU level are: withdrawal from the contract - refund of the purchase price within 14 days in case of online purchase, repair or replacement of the product, credible advertising, fair contracts, product safety, tourist packages, switching banks. In Slovenia, however, three key campaign themes were chosen, namely: tourist packages, the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days for online purchases, and product repair or replacement. The representative of the ODMEV Agency explained that "in the context of informing young consumers, among other things, information will also be available that the organizer can increase the price of the trip only in explicitly defined situations (increase in fuel prices, increase in third-party taxes or changes in exchange rates). In the aforementioned cases, if the price increase exceeds 8 % the agreed price of the tourist package, consumers have the right to terminate the contract without paying the cancellation fee.
The selected target group of the campaign are young people between 18 and 35 years old, with this in mind, communication channels were also chosen, including posts on social networks. Thus, cooperation with Slovenian influencers, which address the selected target audience. As a representative of influencers from social networks who will represent the faces of the campaign, a blogger attended the press conference Lara Koren Step aside (www.romeojulijaandco.com), which finds the campaign "not only interesting for its followers and young people in general, but also extremely important, as young people mostly do not know their rights, and consequently do not know how to solve the problems they face as consumers ". She also expressed the hope that "the stories that will be created and shared by Slovenian influencers will help raise awareness among young consumers".
