The next time you want to thank someone, consider using the word THANK YOU.
Maybe you weren't paying much attention, but people use THANK YOU like mask, when they don't know what to say. Even if they are not particularly grateful, they say THANK YOU. When you really want to thank a person, the word THANKS does not achieve the purpose. You can change that!
Which are two the magic words you should use instead of THANK YOU?
I am grateful! Francisco Gino and Adam Grant they are done an experiment, in which they analyzed two groups and their prosocial behavior – the first group of volunteers se no one said thank you for the work done, and the other group was told: “I am very grateful for what you have done.”
The results were astonishing: those people who received genuine thanks were more willing to help others (in terms of donations), were motivated and more productive. The researchers also found that expressing gratitude in the right way can help people cope stressful situations, strengthen relationships and enjoy positive experiences.
And why are the magic words "I AM GRATEFUL" so strong?
Think about what happens when you receive a sincere compliment. Genuine recognition rewards your effort and achievements, reinforces positive behavior, builds self-esteem and confidence, and encourages motivation and enthusiasm. Feel better about invested effort.
The same thing happens when you really compliment someone. You'll feel better knowing that a compliment isn't just being given because it should be given. You will also change someone else's life.
Generic praise is nice, but specific praise is wonderful. Try it!
