We continue the series of zoos with two that, compared to other European capitals, are the closest to us. The Zagreb Zoo is considered one of the most beautiful near the city center, and the Parco Natura Viva Zoo in Verona is considered the most beautiful in Italy.
Zagreb, Croatia
Zagreb Zoo it is located in the more than two hundred year old Maksimir Park, which is considered one of the most beautiful European parks, in the immediate vicinity of the city center. On more than seven hectares, we can observe 275 animal species from almost all continents. In addition to the tour, it is also possible to participate in various educational programs, and it is particularly interesting to see the feeding of the animals, as the keepers share their experiences and many other interesting facts about the animals with the visitors during this time.
Verona, Italy
Parco Natura Viva is the best zoo in Italy because, rather than a limited area of animal cages, it is a park spread over 45 hectares of beautiful Mediterranean vegetation, with around 500 parrots that fly freely and nest in the treetops. The zoo is divided into two parts. In 1969, the Parco Safari del Garda was opened, in which visitors observe animals from vehicles, and the second part is the Fauna Park, which is only intended for walkers. Ten years after the opening of the safari park, they opened an interesting dinosaur park, which grew into the Park of Extinct Animals in 2009 and 2010. Today, 74 animal and plant species become extinct every day, and if the trend continues, we will also threaten our own survival on Earth, so it is important to learn that extinction is partly a natural process, and partly and all too cruelly human intervention. The models of extinct animals in the park are "hyperreal", as they were made in collaboration with paleontologists from the Milan Museum of Natural History, who ensured that the models are not just a figment of a child's imagination, but real scientific projects.
