Nowadays, due to the (too) large selection of bio, eco and diet drinks and snacks, it is quite difficult to choose the right ones that actually do not harm our health. Therefore, let us come to the aid of a list of ten treats that nutritionists claim are not as healthy as their manufacturers claim to help us with our next purchase.
Nowadays, among the (too) varied selection of super foods, energy bars, fruit drinks, soy products, muesli, low-calorie yogurts and soft drinks, it is difficult to choose products that are truly healthy. Labels such as "low calorie", "fat free" and "dietary" they can trick us into buying products that are actually not the best for our health. Let's see which treats that manufacturers advertise as healthy, no real nutritionist would touch.
1. Fruit juice
Fruit juices are said to be full of vitamins and minerals. Let's forget about it! Rather than fruit juice, which contains a lot of sugar and far fewer antioxidants than fresh fruit, we reach for water and invigorating green tea.
2. Sports drinks
After playing sports, we forget about ready-made sports drinks, which contain a lot of sugar, artificial colors and preservatives, which certainly do not help to improve our health. Banana and water are definitely better choices.
3. Energy tiles
Most of the energy bars found on the shelves of even the most "healthy" stores contain a lot of unnecessary sugar, fillers and toppings. Let's replace them with raw nuts and dried fruit without added sugar.
4. Whole grain
Many people are still convinced that everything labeled "whole grain" is really healthy. Mistake! As far as processed products are concerned, they are mostly made from genetically modified ingredients and contain unnecessary sugar. On your next purchase, check the ingredients and don't be convinced by the "whole grain" label alone.
5. Soy
If we like soy products, let's not overdo it and choose soy that is not genetically modified and was not grown with the help of unhealthy pesticides.
6. Low-calorie margarine
Let's forget about all the ads that claim that artificial butter and margarine are better than natural butter. In addition to the worse taste, they are extremely harmful to our health. Instead of unhealthy fakes, we choose organic butter, which is a source of vitamins and linoleic acid, which prevents cancer and promotes muscle growth.
7. Fish
Fish is known as an excellent source of protein and healthy fatty acids. But beware! The fish that mostly end up on our plates are raised in the artificial environment of factories whose motto is "faster, bigger and cheaper". If we want the best, we treat ourselves to wild bream, sea bass and sardines and prepare them in the most natural way possible, but by no means fried.
8. Diet Coke
Coca-Cola and similar drinks are some of the worst things we can put into our bodies. Let's especially avoid those labeled sugar-free, as they contain artificial sugar and are considered a veritable cocktail of unhealthy chemicals. A much better drink choice will be chilled green tea, to which we add a slice of lemon.
9. Pretzels and popcorn
Instead of pretzels and popcorn with the "low-calorie" label, choose apple chips and raw nuts, and you can also prepare a salty snack made from roasted chickpeas.
10. Frozen low-calorie yogurt
Lately, extremely popular diet frozen yogurt contains artificial sugars and preservatives, which are definitely not the best choice. Let alone the various sprinkles and toppings with which they deceive us in various "smoothie" shops. To be on the healthy side, we choose healthy full-fat yogurt and enrich it with fresh fruit, raw nuts, dark chocolate and honey.
