Choosing organic food has never been so easy

If a few years ago it seemed that organically produced food was a fad of a spoiled, everything good and pleasing to the eye overfed consumer, today this is no longer the case. Bio and eco are becoming the most frequently used words of today, and the demand for everything that bears the bio label, the offer as well as the awareness of the advantages of eco products, is increasing every day.

Modern diseases of civilization, which mainly include cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, allergies and related skin problems, are on the rise at an alarming rate these days. Unhealthy eating and an inadequate lifestyle are primarily to blame for this type of disease. As far as unnatural, highly processed food, which is full of chemicals, hormones, antibiotics and pesticides, we replace it with foods with the eco seal, and thus choose among guaranteed healthy products, we will take care of prevention against most diseases, and we will also contribute to an overall better well-being.

The belief that it takes a lot of time to choose and prepare healthy food can be easily disproved with today's range of such products. The offer of organic food is becoming more accessible every day, specialized stores are opening where you can choose from top quality products, which are not obscured on the shelves by products that do not deserve the title bio and eco in any way. As long as the role of detective during grocery shopping, for which we hardly find time anyway, does not smell good, the selection of goodies in the store that has eco certificate for the entire store certainly a pleasant novelty.

Eco and Bio

The designation "Eco" or "Bio" means a method of farming that is friendly to nature and people. It is based on the balance in the system that interconnects soil, plants, animals and man. Organic production strictly avoids the use of any chemical means and opposes the genetic modification of organisms. Natural methods are used to control diseases, pests and weeds, the biological needs of animals are taken into account in cultivation, and plants adapted to the given climatic conditions are grown.

Organically produced foods do not contain pesticides, easily soluble mineral fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, synthetic additives and similar substances that are harmful to health and artificial colors and flavors that cause various allergies. Instead of all of the above, they contain many vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and nutrients that help maintain our health. We make sure that producers really comply with the regulations of the regulation on organic food production Department for the Control of Organic Agriculture at the Maribor Agricultural Institute. At least once a year, their controller visits organic food producers and suppliers unannounced. "Eco" certificate is an official document issued by it Maribor Institute for Control and Certification. If the control of the unannounced visit of the control organization is positive, the farm or the store receives a certificate and permission to use suitable labels.
