There are no real instructions for good kissing. Here and there we can hear some advice from a friend, but of course this is not sacred and rarely scientifically supported. And speaking of science, what do you think various studies and a bunch of scientists have to say about kissing? Well, you will soon find out! We've put together science-backed tips for good kissing.

Read on to find out what kissing is all about and how to kiss well, discovered by science.

Don't be under any illusions, kissing IS important.

  • Research has shown that frequency of kissing and satisfaction in a relationship are mutually dependent. 59 percent of men and 66 percent of women ended a relationship because their partner was a below average kisser.
  • Psychologist John Bohannon of Butler University discovered that most of us remember as much as 90 percent of the details of our first kiss. 500 people took part in the study, and most remembered their first kiss better than their first sexual intercourse.
  • Abstinence from kissing on the mouth is quite common among women in the "world's oldest profession". Sociologists Joanna Brewis and Stephen Linstead report that prostitutes avoid kissing on the mouth because it requires genuine desire and love for the other person.
  • Men who kiss their wives before going to work live 5 years longer, earn 20 to 30 percent more money and are less likely to get into a car accident. This was the conclusion of a ten-year psychological study conducted in Germany in the 1980s. Psychologists don't believe it's the kiss that makes the difference. What makes a difference is that such people start the day with a positive attitude and good will, which leads to a healthier and more successful life.

Why are we kissing?

Much of the scientific literature suggests that kissing evolved as an aid in selecting a suitable mate. The exchange of smells and tastes can trigger unconscious mechanisms that guide us in deciding whether to continue with the kiss or not, and the kiss is also said to say a lot about the partner's commitment and genetic compatibility.

How do women and men perceive kissing?

  • Kissing is more important to women than to men.
  • Women focus on men's teeth and their hygiene.
  • Men see kissing as an introduction to sex.

How do you know someone wants to kiss you?

He presented the best method pick-up artist David D'Angelo: guys, fix the woman's hair. An intimate gesture will tell you if a woman is interested or not. If the woman flinched, then you got the green light.
