Modern kindergarten with a huge giraffe in the garden

Giraffe Kindergarten

How super cool is it that we have a larger-than-life giraffe in the nursery, and a bear and a ladybug just like that?

Last year it is on the south-western outskirts Paris turned out to be extremely cute kindergarten. Nothing special, you would say, there are quite a few of them. But if you walk past the huge bright yellow giraffe legs to the entrance, it's something special and unique.

Kindergarten Giraffe (named after its most recognizable image) is the work and idea of the studio Hondelatte Laporte Architectes. Although the interior is also extremely cutely furnished, the kindergarten became a world sensation because of the three main characters. We walk past the two yellow legs of a giraffe to the entrance, a polar bear is trying to climb one wall of the nursery, and there are big red ladybugs on the other. But why would a little one ever cry again when they have to go to this super cool zoo?

Large concrete animals are involved in the surroundings in such a way that they complement it, and their role extends beyond the walls of the kindergarten building. For example, a giraffe is posed as if it is eating leaves from a nearby park, and ladybugs are trying to get to the indoor playground. With this work, the architects wanted to elevate architecture to the level of storytelling. The idea is to animate the surroundings and awaken children's imagination. As the architects say, the kindergarten brings fantasy into the daily routine. And this applies not only to the children who go to kindergarten here, but to all the surrounding residents, who are always greeted by a giraffe on their way to work.
