7. The Wolfpack (2015)
A documentary that we will never be able to forget. Filmmaker Crystal Moselle manages to infiltrate the Angulo family—a girl and six mixed-race boys—who hardly ever leave their tiny apartment on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Everything they know about life comes from the movies they watch, copy and play.
6. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015)
The big winner at Sundance 2015 is every bit as good as expected. Thomas Mann shines as "Me" in the title, a high school student forced by his mother to visit his dying classmate Rachel, about whom he makes a film with his cinephile friends.
5. Clouds of Sils Maria (2015)
Filmmaker Olivier Assayas takes us on a journey with humor and heart inside the minds of two women - an aging star (Juliette Binoche) and her personal assistant (Kristen Stewart).
4. Love & Mercy (2014)
One of the best music biographies of all time. As young Brian Wilson, Beach Boys genius, actor Paul Dano explores all boundaries. As the older Brian, actor John Cusak takes a different approach, showing the beginnings of mental illness and the hard journey. It's all in the music - both joyful and scary.

3. Ex Machina (2015)
Screenwriter Alex Garland made the directorial debut of the year with his sci-fi provocation featuring a "sexy," independent-thinking Android (Alicia Vikander) and the tech billionaire (Oscar Isaac) who created that Android. The film creates countless questions in the head and if we haven't seen this brilliant film that plays with our head well, we must see it.

2. Inside Out (2015)
Pixar has "defeated" itself with an animated miracle film that takes us inside the head of an 11-year-old girl and allows her emotions to run wild. Here are Joy, Fear, Sadness, Disgust and Anger. And director Pete Docter brings those emotions to life in ways we don't expect. Just for kids? No way!

1. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
George Miller created a real post-apocalyptic spectacle. Tom Hardy steps in for Mel Gibson and lives up to expectations as road warrior Max Rockatansky, as does Charlize Theron as nomadic warrior Furiosa. Fury Road is a visionary explosion of images and ideas that will make us question reality.
