Get ready for a new dose of technological paranoia as Netflix has released the trailer for Black Mirror season 7. And as befits Charlie Brooker's dystopian masterpiece, there are plenty of unpleasant surprises in store.

The biggest bombshell? Black Mirror For the first time, the show is bringing a direct sequel to one of its episodes. We're talking, of course, about the iconic "USS Callister" from season four, which introduced one of the most sinister antagonists in the show's history. (If you thought space adventures were fun, well, Callister quickly brought you back to reality.)

The original cast returns below: Cristin Milioti, Billy Magnussen, Milanka Brooks, Osy Ikhile and Jimmi Simpson. Will the space crew find a way to finally escape the digital nightmare? Or will Robert Daly (well, at least his consciousness) still be lurking somewhere in the darkness of space?

“Bandersnatch” hasn’t said its last word.

Another interesting connection? The trailer also hints at the return of characters from the interactive special Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Will Poulter and Asim Chaudhry are apparently returning, which raises a bunch of intriguing questions. Will the new season continue the concept of interactive storytelling? Or is there something even more sinister in store? (Because, let's face it, at Black Mirror there is always room for “worse”.)

Six new stories, one more terrifying than the other

The trailer teases "six electrifying stories" - right in the world Black Mirror means that each one will leave a trail of existential crisis. Among the most striking moments: the black-and-white world ruled by artificial intelligence, and Peter Capaldi as a charismatic (read: very suspicious) cult leader.

The cast list is impressive as always: Awkwafina, Emma Corrin, Patsy Ferran, Paul Giamatti, Lewis Gribben, Rashida Jones, Siena Kelly, Rosy McEwen, Chris O'Dowd, Issa Rae, Paul G. Raymond, Tracee Ellis Ross, Harriet Walter, Michele Austin, Ben Bailey Smith, Josh Finan, James Nelson-Joyce, Jay Simpson and Michael Workéyè.

So take a few deep breaths, check to see if your smartphones are really on your side, and get ready for another season that will leave you feeling like you might be better off living in the woods somewhere – without the internet.

Black Mirror is back. Are you ready for a new round of technological despair? April 10th – 2025 is coming!
