National Geographic Photo Contest 2014: The winning photos are known

Just before the end of the year, National Geographic announced the winners of the National Geographic Photo Contest 2014. Out of more than 9,000 submitted photos, they chose the best, as well as individual winners in the Nature, Places and People categories.

Out of more than 9,000 submitted photos, National Geographic Photo Contest 2014 the winning photo Brian Yen from Hong Kong entitled The node glows in the dark (A Node Glows in the Dark). Photography has thus won at a time when we are freed by the unlimited possibilities offered by technology, and at the same time computers, phones, iPads and other "gadgets" are establishing distances between us that are greater than ever before.

In addition to the cash prize ($10,000), the winner also received a trip to Washington DC, where he will attend a photography seminar at the National Geographic headquarters in January. The other winners in individual categories (Nature, Places, People) received cash prizes, and all winning photos will of course also be published in the National Geographic magazine.
