This is what the new Volkswagen e-Golf will look like, the electric version of the new Golf, which Volkswagen presented not long ago in all body versions except electrified. The new e-Golf has a larger battery, longer range and the ability to charge faster at classic city charging stations.
Volkswagen presented the last piece in the mosaic of the latest generation of the Golf model – electrified version of the new Golf, which we presented in more detail in the article New Volkswagen Golf (2017) – new Golf, new start, new momentum. The new e-Golf has battery with half the capacity and more efficient charger, which now does its job much faster at city filling stations with alternating current.
This is where the system limped a bit. The power was therefore increased from 3.2 to 7.2 kilowatts, so the new e-Golf will benefit from a third of the power 22 kW charging stations. The best equipment package SEL Premium has serially available fast charging, which it charges the battery up to 80 percent capacity in one hour. The main selling point of the electric Golf is pincreased range and that's it by 50 percent compared to its predecessor, which otherwise held up well.
Lithium-ion battery has according to the new 35.8 kilowatt hours, which is 12 more than before (24.2 kilowatt hours). In translation, this means a greater range, which now amounts to over 200 kilometers (210-217 km). With this, he failed to break through the psychological boundary, for example Renault Zoe, which transports you to charging more than 300 kilometers far away. The engine power now amounts to 134 hp, and the torque increased to 290 Nm. This enables it to accelerate up to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds. The maximum speed is 150 km/h.
