Sustainable or more environmentally friendly packaging has become a global trend. One of the companies that strives to create packaging that has as little impact on the environment as possible is the British Skipping Rocks Lab, which has produced edible and degradable Ooho water balls that could soon replace water bottles.
Most packaging represents a lot burden on the environment. But not the London company's packaging Skipping Rocks Lab. It made it biodegradable material (breaks down within a few weeks) which can retains water, in the form of a ball.
Equally important is that it is cheaper than plastic and on top of that edible. It could be the cure for tons and tons of plastic waste, the lion's share of which is plastic bottles.

Beads Ooh, as they were called, are from calcium chloride and brown algae extracts. The manufacturing process is called spherification, and it grew in the kitchen of chef Ferran Adri. The ball can be eaten whole or the membrane can be bitten and spit out. The membrane can be colored and label, which is important information for the food industry, which can fill the ball with any liquid, not just water.
The project took its first steps in 2014, and now with the help of a crowdfunding platform Crowdcube marches sovereignly to the market. Part of the collected money will be used for the production of machines, and part for the further development of the material.
