They say poison comes in small bottles. This also applies to the sportiest version of the Renault Twingo, which is powered by a 98-kilowatt gasoline engine with 16-valve technology. We missed the 6-speed gearbox, but apparently the French couldn't fit it in the twinga. Nevertheless, the engine is very powerful, as the green light in the tachometer, indicating that it is time to upshift, only lights up at 7,000 rpm. Sportiness and dynamism are without a doubt the common denominator of this Renault, which is evident both inside and outside. Of course, the twinga's luggage space has never been its selling point, and its size also depends on whether we carry a passenger on the two rear seats or not; the rear seats enable longitudinal movement. Otherwise, what impressed us the most about the car was the lively engine and its sporty attitude: it is suitable for winding country roads as well as for driving in city centers, especially when we can park in even a small parking space.

The urban pulse of the car

Twingo's concept has always been closely related to the hustle and bustle of the city. Its small dimensions are a real balm when looking for parking spaces, and the sports car is no exception. However, the renault sport badge has an additional bonus in the extremely attractive appearance of the car - the orange seat belts and the tachometer behind the steering wheel have their own charm. The powerful engine will convince even those last unbelieving Thomases who thought that the Twingo was a woman's car. Is the city kid also born for longer trips? Because of the powerful engine, for sure, because you can easily compete with large sedans on the highway with it, and the cruising speed of 130 km/h is a cat's cough anyway. You only have to be extremely rational with your luggage, and we also do not recommend visiting a Swedish furniture salon.

Parent friendly

Twingo RS as a family car? Why not? But only if your family has two members and the third is on the way. Even though it has ISOFIX anchor points for child seats built into both the rear seats and the front passenger seat, that doesn't mean it's an ideal family purchase, as you'll barely fit a pushchair in its trunk. That's why it's a great second car that both mom and dad will love to drive.

We noticed

Usually, test cars are full of additional (and therefore extra) equipment, which is especially typical for cars of German origin. The French are more generous in terms of topography, as many equipment to pamper the driver and passengers are already installed as standard. And the renault sport version is no exception, as we saw for sure with the test twing. Sports bumpers, spoiler above the luggage compartment, 16-inch alloy wheels, sports leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports seats with solid grip, air conditioning, radio with steering wheel controls, electric windows, airbags, ESP and ABS are already on the list basic equipment. From the additional built-in equipment that ensures the comfort of passengers, we would point out the automatic air conditioning, wiper with a rain sensor and an electric glass sunroof, which made the interior of the car brighter. The finishing touches to the car's sporty look are the aluminum pedals and a set of decorative stickers. Despite the rich equipment, we were a little disappointed by the lack of storage areas in the test car, especially between the front seats, the plastic fittings too hard for our taste, the tank cover with a key, the steering wheel adjustable only in height and the absence of a mirror in the passenger sunshade. However, these "flaws" are quickly outweighed by the car's performance and its position - if you want an even better position, we highly recommend the 550 euro surcharge for the Cup chassis, which our test car did not have. The ESP stability control, which by the way cannot be turned off, additionally provides for the most neutral possible position - at least we did not find the switch to turn it off during the week.
