On February 8, Prešeren's Day, which is considered the central Slovenian cultural holiday, Slovenia will once again be driven away from culture. We will once again honor the memory of our greatest poet, France Prešerno, with many cultural events, at the head of which will be a national celebration, where the Prešerno awards and awards from the Prešerno Foundation will be awarded. Read below where to go for Prešeren's Day.
February 8, the day when in 1849 Dr. France Prešeren, is traditionally reserved for culture, which is why the name Slovenian cultural (and national) holiday sticks to it. Prešeren's Day is already being celebrated since 1945, but it became a day off only after independence. As February 8 in 2015 falls on a Sunday, there will be nothing from the extra day off. But nothing happens. Instead of regretting, look at how you can benefit from the holiday of Slovenian culture and memory of France Prešeren you take away the most.
Prešerenvanje in Villa Prešeren
Place: Pale
The culinary and wine event will take place in front of Villa Prešeren from 11 a.m. onwards. Although you will not "taste" the recitals of Prešeren's poetry, you will taste Slovenian culture through your stomach, namely with culinary delicacies and Slovenian wines, and live music will provide extra spice.

Prešeren's shift 2015
Place: Kranj
The Carniolan Smenj will be held for the thirteenth year in a row, and on this day Prešeren's second home will turn into a city, as it was in the 19th century. The event will be co-created with the city by folklore groups, cultural societies and institutes from all over Slovenia, and the "locals" - the Gorenjski Museum, the City Library of Kranj, the Prešeren Theater and other guardians of ethnological heritage - will also make their contribution. Recitations, choirs, folklore, a "fashion show" of 19th-century clothing and crafts, boatmen, carriage rides, etc. are expected, and expertly guided tours of the city will provide even more cultural education.

Association of Dramatic Artists of Slovenia
Place: Ljubljana
ZDUS traditionally invites you to the Prešeren Monument, where the members of the association will begin the declamation at exactly noon (12:00). As is tradition, the introduction will go to Zdravljica, but we do not yet know who will succeed Aleš Valič. We do know, however, that the traditional recital under the patronage of drama actors began in 1984 as a fight for Slovenian cultural autonomy, which the former common state was increasingly beginning to do.
