This year, between September 16 and 22, 2016, the European Mobility Week will take place again. The event will take place simultaneously in many European cities with the aim of spreading the importance of sustainable mobility among the general public. This year's slogan is "Smart mobility for economic success". As many as 63 municipalities in Slovenia will participate in the project. In addition to various activities on the topic of sustainable mobility, the city has a special "Car Free Day", when municipalities will close their city centers to motor vehicles.
European Mobility Week, which will take place from 16 to 22 September 2016, this year holds the title "Smart mobility for economic success". The idea of this year's topic is based on research that finds that cities that advocate for development and investments in sustainable mobility have an economic advantage. An example of the latter is, for example, the fact that real estate in cities that have good cycling infrastructure and functional public transport, worth more.
It also shows correlation between sustainable mobility and performance: children who go to school on foot, with bicycles or rollerblades have better results. In addition, it has long been known that the correct choice of means of transport can affects the health and well-being of the individual. As a result, employees who drive less and cycle or walk more visit the doctor less often and spend less time on sick leave - all of which has positive impact on the economic performance of the community.

The European Mobility Week will be held in Slovenia in 63 municipalities. In addition to the latter, activities on the Mobilityactions platform schools, companies, associations and non-governmental organizations also joined the project. An important project that will contribute to the development of sustainable mobility is the project "Bring happiness to work", which is actually 4 week challenge, to be go to work by bike. Mobility week will come to an end September 22, 2016 with the traditional event "Day without a car", when they will closed the centers of the participating municipalities to all motorized traffic.
