Slovenian DJ, musician and producer, DJ Umek, who entered the scene as a pioneer of techno in Slovenia in the 90s and was nicknamed "Fotr" by his audience, will perform on December 19 at Kurzschluss.
DJ Umek is considered a synonym of Slovenian techno, but in the initial period he conquered both house and techno. Umekova's first Mumps release (2001), on the label Tortured (owned by Billy Nasty), where he combined his love for early house music and his passion for club techno, is a Slovenian DJ led to the international center of events. So far, he has toured on four continents, musical conquest awaits him only on the black continent.
On the scale TOP 100 DJs and producers at the most important dance music magazine DJ Mag in 2007, Dj Umek ranked 29th. This year, it climbed 22 places from last year's 97th place and landed in 75th place. Along with star names such as Carl Cox, Jeff Mills and Sven Väth was nominated for the prestigious DJ Awards in the techno category in 2009.
