The legendary musical Cats by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has been enthralling world stages for thirty years. At the end of March, an exceptional line-up from London's West End is coming to Arena Zagreb under the baton of the original team.

The musical Cats, a stage adaptation of the author's recognizable collection of poetry TS Elliot with Title Cats (Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats), is in 2014 returned to the stages of London's famous West End. After two successful seasons the musical Cats goes on an international tour, namely under the baton original teams, which staged the first performance of one of the most famous and popular musicals.
Director Trevor Nunn, assistant director and choreographer Gillian Lynne, costume designer John Napier and of course the composer Andrew Lloyd Webber together with the performing band (Joanna Ampil, TonyMcGill, Charlotte Scott, Grace Swaby, Joe Henry and others) will provide an unforgettable musical evening that will echo in your mind for a long time.

Croatian theater director and web portal editor Teater.hr Nora Krstulova upon the news that the famous musical Cats is coming to Zagreb, said: "The musical Cats is much more than just a show, it is a phenomenon, perhaps even one of the most groundbreaking shows in modern commercial theater, which has been enthralling the world public for more than thirty years. It brought Andrew Lloyd Webber the status of one of the richest and most influential actors of the modern theater. The staging of this musical is, so to speak, the pinnacle of theatrical events in Croatia."
Interesting facts about the musical Cats
- The musical Cats is a show with one of the longest traditions of staging in London's West End and Broadway. It had its premiere at the New London Theater in 1981, where it was part of the repertoire for a record 21 consecutive years and experienced almost 9,000 repetitions.
- The musical Cats has won prestigious awards for Best Musical, the Oliver Award and the Evening Standard. The Broadway production won as many as seven Tony Awards and occupied the Broadway stage for 18 years.
- The world premiere of the musical Cats was followed by performances in more than 30 countries around the world, the musical was translated into more than 10 languages and was seen by more than 50 million viewers. Both original productions, London and Broadway, also received a Grammy. The most recognizable song from the musical Cats entitled Memory was performed by more than 150 recognizable musicians of our time; from Barbra Streisand and Johnny Mathias to Liberace and Barry Manilow.

Every year there is a very special evening in which the cats meet Jellicle they meet at the Jellicle dance where their wise leader Deuteronomy decides which of them will be able to go to the Heavside Layer and be reborn and live a new life as a Jellicle cat.
