The Beguiled is a new film by Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), the daughter of the famous director Francis Coppola. It is an adaptation of the 1971 film of the same name, The Beguiled, directed by Don Siegel. At the time, Don's favorite Clint Eastwood and Geraldine Page appeared in the main roles. Colin Farrell stepped into Eastwood's shoes, and Nicole Kidman replaced Page. Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst complete the elite cast.
The Beguiled is considered one of the most anticipated films of 2017. It's hard to find two directors more different than Sofia Coppola and Don Siegel, and now these two have something in common. Both made a film based on the novel A Painted Devil by Thomas P. Cullin in 1966.
But there are a few more friends. 1971's The Beguiled was the third collaboration between Eastwood and Siegel, and in Coppola's case, the third collaboration with Kirsten Dunst (Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides).
