10 reasons FOR buying an electric car

BMW i3 - now at an exceptional promotional price

If you are buying a new car or just want a little more information, this article will be perfect for you. It is happening more and more often that when thinking about buying a new car, more and more people also think about the electric option. And since there is less than too much information about it before, these 10 reasons FOR buying an electric car will dispel any doubts you may still have.

We often complain about how it is Slovenia a small country and how very few of us there are. In terms of electricity but that's why we are ideal country, because we are quite a lot with this energy self-sufficient. The short distances that Slovenians travel daily are completely within the limits of capacity electric cars. With new generations and larger battery capacities, even a trip to the coast and back is no longer an obstacle, you just need to plan a stop or two for coffee. The fact is that the presence of electric cars on Slovenian roads is increase, and we will now list the reasons why this is so.

1. Electricity is a cheaper fuel derivative than gasoline.

To put it simply, with electricity you will waste every 100 kilometers driven less, as if the same distance were driven with an internal combustion engine. Let's take for example economical electric driving, where we consume 15 kWh for 100 kilometers driven, and let's compare it to economical driving with a gasoline engine, where we spend 5 liters of fuel for 100 kilometers driven. In the first case, the cost is around 1.5 euros, where the price depends on the electricity provider. Gasoline will come to you 1.244 euros per liter, which means that you spend for a journey of 100 kilometers 6.22 euros. Even such a simple and very basic calculation shows us that the drive is powered by electricity significantly cheaper.

2. The price of electric cars is decreasing.

When the first electric cars arrived on the market, they were mostly only dreamed of, as they were expensive and at the time not yet autonomous. Compared to those prices, today's prices are quite high lower and more accessible. Thanks, of course, to the progress of technology, greater competition, the lower cost of manufacturing batteries and better knowledge of this new technology. And when the so-called "facelift” or a completely new generation of a certain model, the price is usually not reduced, but it must be taken into account that the batteries are newer and certainly have better autonomy than the predecessor. In theory it is new generation cheaper, because with it you drive more and spend less valuable time charging the car. And well known to everyone Tesla S? Most people think that it is an extremely expensive car that only the wealthy can afford. But it is not entirely so, because the price does not differ much from that of the well-equipped BMW 5 Series, Audi's A6 or Mercedes-Benz E-Class. An excellent proof is the BMW i3, which you can get at a bargain price, richly equipped for only 29,990 euros. This is certainly an exceptional price for this type of vehicle with a blue badge on its nose.

3. Subsidies are still available.

The BMW i3 is a serious alternative to comparable cars.

By obtaining a subsidy from the state Eco fund the purchase of an electric car becomes abundant cheaper. In some cases, the Eco Fund reimburses you up to 7,500 euros, which just requires a little more red tape. Take the BMW i3 for example. The regular price is 37,490 euros, and after obtaining the subsidy, it is reduced to 29,990 euros.

4. Less maintenance

The electric motor represents proven technology that has been with us for decades and is practically perfected to the maximum and thus reliable. In addition, an internal combustion car has ten times more moving parts than you will find in an electric car. With an electric car, you can do away with the engine, transmission, spark plugs, valves, fuel tank, exhaust system, clutch, particulate filter, and on and on. And that's not all, because electric cars with regenerative braking they create energy, less brake pressure is required, which means they have brake pads longer lifespan.

5. Simpler drive than hybrid cars

Electric cars certainly are simpler in terms of system and drivetrain complexity when compared to hybrid cars. Everything we mentioned in the previous point does not apply to hybrids, because you still have to deal with the classic engine and all its moving parts. It's true that hybrids command a good resale value, but it's also true that sooner or later electric vehicles will overtake them and consign them to the history books.

6. Infrastructure is on the rise.

Hardly a day goes by without a new charging station dedicated to electric cars opening somewhere. Highway cross in Slovenia it is already a lot well supported, and the existing filling stations are being joined by new and new ones in different locations. You have surely already noticed that more and more parking spaces are reserved for electric cars. This brings two advantages, in some cases these are parking spaces free of charge, and in some cases they even offer to charge your car for free. A parking space right in front of the entrance to the shopping center where you can still charge your car for free? Sounds very tempting, doesn't it?

7. If you have solar panels on your roof, you will ride for free.

Calculations, sale and purchase of electricity are constantly changing. If it was the case a few years ago that it was possible to make money from excess electricity, this is no longer the case. If during the year you produced more electricity than you used, this energy is no longer paid for, but you practically have free electricity for the whole year. And if you have a surplus of electricity, think of an electric car and that way you will fully charge it for free.

8. Reduction of greenhouse gases

You've certainly heard a lot of discussion on this topic, so we'll be very brief here. Electric cars they do not produce no releases that are dangerous to humans, taking into account that it is electricity that we have obtained from renewable resources, such as the wind, the sun and water. The energy obtained from thermal and similar power plants is not completely clean, but if we look at it more broadly, internal combustion cars are definitely bigger air polluters than power plants.
If we look outside the framework of emissions and focus on other elements of ecology in the production of cars, there is a very interesting example BMW i3, which advocates sustainability throughout the entire lifespan. The design of the car takes place in the factory in Leipzig, where the energy is produced with the help four windmills, in addition, they use advanced and sustainable techniques for production (water use, reduction of toxic substances in dyeing and waste water). The vehicle is made of recycled PET bottles, and the leather with which the interior of the car is equipped is made of eucalyptus. In addition, the vehicle's batteries have their purpose even after their end of life, namely as energy storage for solar cells in houses.

9. Cleaner air

Not only greenhouse gases, internal combustion cars emit many other harmful gases or poisons into the air. This causes various health problems for people, which ultimately has an impact even on the economy, mainly due to the loss of working hours. We all deserve clean air and a clean natural environment in which we live. Electric cars certainly are a real step towards solving this problem.

10. Electricity is guaranteed energy

You don't need an oil pipeline through the desert or an oil rig in the middle of rough seas to deliver electricity. You don't need huge tankers and big road tankers. All you need is some cables and an electrical outlet. In the case of electricity from renewable sources, it is practically unlimited, since the sun will shine for thousands of years, and the wind will continue to blow. And technology will also advance, so that obtaining energy from renewable sources will be increasingly simple, and more importantly, even more efficient.

We're sure this summer read has made you think that electric cars are just not so scary. Admittedly, they require a bit more planning when you're going on a long journey and you might lose a little more nerve. But nothing for that, in the future there will be electric cars more and more efficient and thus caused less and less concern. This way, you will be able to enjoy carefree even on your way to vacation, but you won't have to play a board game where the winner is the one who finds the charging station first.

Are you interested in a specific calculation for the new BMW i3?

Calculations that also include maintenance costs speak even more in favor of electric vehicles.
