Film lovers have an additional reason to rejoice this year - the popular and idyllic Motovun Film Festival is celebrating its 18th birthday. from July 25 to 29, we will have the opportunity to enjoy ourselves as it should be, as the film festival will serve up the best films from small and independent film productions, and this time the focus will be on French cinematography and culture.
For almost two decades Motovun Film Festival every summer provides a real cinematic treat under the stars, and this year will be no different. In a lovely town on top of a 277-meter-high hill above the Mirna river valley, this time French cinematography and culture will come into their own.
In addition to the French film products in the program Festival of French and Croatian Rendez-vous a program is coming to Motovun from Denmark Twenty years of Dogma, which will offer an insight into the film movement that marked the first years of the festival. Since this is not only intended for summer pleasures with good films, but also for taking care of the world, the organizers have also prepared a program Help me, God, during which we will be able to watch many documentaries on the topic of religious extremism of various shades and religions. The doors will also be opened for the first time television series, which in recent years have significantly influenced the aspect and development of the film industry. Perhaps we will get to the bottom of the question of how top European series are created.
Among the most popular films, the pearls of this year's film festivals, two films resonate Lobster, recipient of the jury award in the competition program at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and Croatia's biggest trump card Zenit (Zvizdan) the director Dalibor Matanić, which took home the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section from Cannes. They are joined by the winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, Postman's White Nights, who is as mature as a British eccentric Falling, an Irish humorist You're Ugly Too and somewhat anxious Brigand from Denmark. Maturity and adulthood is what awaits the Motovun Film Festival in the coming years, although with its charm it will surely remain young at heart forever. All the best!
