#188 - City Magazine - Back to School

September, the sun and the end of summer concerts in the rain... We have just returned from vacation and it is time to sit back at the desks and in the school desks. Fortunately, our little individuals have the privilege of no longer having to carry heavy backpacks, as they now "quietly" drag bags behind them, which tip over every time they step from the sidewalk to the crosswalk...

And "you smart stuff”, which for parents are an additional, almost excessive, prop for complete control, but enable the youngest fast connections with friends and crushes. And for writing hidden and mysterious messages, exchanging "plonks", for playing games, for "selfies", for taking photos and recording the most (un)funny incidents, actions and gestures when technological world unskilled professors lose even more by publishing the aforementioned on online media atoms of authority. With the flood of online school adventures, memories of events that happened in my own childhood also fade.

But there are still some that remain as stories for late years, which attract laughter and drive away conversations about the weather. Sure, today we'd have more clicks on social media than a single parliamentary session, but what if my school days go back to the era of cameras, when you had a photo film with a maximum of 36 shots at your disposal, and VHS tapes were only reserved for special events. You can imagine my school trip, which will never be recorded on film, even though it almost always turned out very "filmy". The Slovenian language teacher who never took off her "strumpets", a history teacher, who always rolled his snot into balls and "tossed" them around... Of course, there was no shortage of up-and-comers on the bus, who were on average one and a half meters tall, eagerly awaiting the destination, and while they were passing the time with various games. Instead of mini-headphones on all mini-ears, we exchanged "walkmans" with maxi headphones, from which the sound never completely drowned out the music that blared from the bus speakers and was chosen solely for to the chauffeur's taste. When we arrived at our destination, the first act was unwrapping the foil with home-made sandwiches, while today the children take pictures of plates full to the brim and post the photos online. There is still infinity to come"of selfies” and proofreading, a little quick processing and posting online again. Sometimes you had to ask someone to take your picture. Only at home did you realize that everyone was different the footage is blurred or you have your head cut off. There were no corrections. If I compare the return home, we were all signing postcards that went from hand to hand. Nowadays, you usually only hear "tapping” on smartphones, loud beeps announcing the receipt of a message, and giggles and snickers as it is read. Anyway, the new school year is starting…_
