#193 - City Magazine - Active Winter

We have already changed the tires on the cars to winter ones, smoke is already coming out of the chimneys and these days some people would rather have those rain drops replaced by snowflakes, and the nearby hill whiten with snow, at least by a centimeter or two, and the atmosphere would be completely different . Otherwise, I don't mind that it's above average warm outside, but I'd rather see my fingers get cold than watch the daily news with sad stories every day.

Otherwise, I hope that these are the last reports of this kind and that someone will finally do something so that you, the directly affected people, can also fall into a sound sleep every night and be worry-free. Yes winter is already knocking on the door, and they testify already at Christmas decorated shops and agency providers with their brochures that promise unforgettable winter adventures. Every year, the list of such and different winter activities is joined by a new, even more innovative and daring one, which (un)willingly pushes our old skis into a corner or calls for an addition that will make our an adventure turned not only into an attraction but also into adrenaline "spin". I remember that as a child with my peers "long ago" years ago, I watched with enthusiasm those two or three special people who were, or rather were, going down the slopes with "big footy". To see someone on the board... no way. At that time, such a thing simply seemed like "mission impossible".

And yet there were times when skis are no longer just straight, long and short, wooden sleds and ice skates white color. There is something wrong with you these days if you look strangely and sideways at those "freaks" who are strapped into a large transparent ball (note p. zorb ball) rolling down the snow channel or those skilled people who are trying to catch the right line with their bicycle between slalom gates. Even a raft can be found, or a big yellow banana with screaming juveniles, whose goal is almost always in a pile of blown snow. Well, in addition to such and other mischief, the traditional one still dominates winter adventure with a little slow, sometimes fast twisting to and fro, with skis on the feet, firmly on the ground and with soft knees; and, of course, after a ride or two, there is a mandatory detour to a mountain hut, to stop for tea... And this, in our beautiful subalpine country, is called "that, that real winter skiing".
