Steps for cleaning a garden grill + the first tip is worth its weight in gold!

  • Preparation of the solution: Into a bucket of hot water add one dishwasher tablet. This powerful combination will dissolve grease and remove stubborn food residue.
  • Irrigation of grates: Remove the grill grates and soak them in the prepared solution for about 30 minutes. If the grates are very dirty, you can extend the soaking time.
  • Using the spray: If you don't have the possibility to soak the grates, you can prepare a solution of tablets for the dishwasher in a spray. Add the dissolved dishwasher tablet to the water bottle and shake well. Then spray the grates thoroughly and let it work for 15-20 minutes. Of course, wash the grate afterwards.
  • Onion Rub: Use half an onion (preferably red) as a natural abrasive. Put the onion on a fork and rub it on the grates. The acids in the onion will help break down the fat and clean the grates.
  • Using aluminum foil and high temperature: If the dirt is still present, wrap the grates in two layers of aluminum foil, place them back on the grill, close the lid and turn the grill on to the highest temperature for 15-20 minutes. This process will burn off food residue, which can then be easily removed with a soft brush.
Final cleaning: When the grill has cooled, rinse the grates well with water and dry them. For additional protection and to prevent food from sticking, lightly coat the grates with olive oil.
