Dark elegance with a red streak of lust

In 2025, Omega pushed its "Dark Side of the Moon" series, which has been synonymous with technical perfection and aesthetic courage since 2013, into a new dimension. The new models do not bring a revolution, but a refined evolution: thinner cases, hand-wound mechanisms, laser-treated ceramic materials and a more restrained color palette. This is a collection that remains true to itself, but with each new reference reveals that it is still capable of surprising. This is the Omega Speedmaster “Dark & Grey Side of the Moon”

Four new models are in the spotlight – Omega Speedmaster “Dark & Gray Side of the Moon”, each with its own identity. The classic black version now appears more refined, with a double-layer ceramic dial and a tachymeter made of Liquidmetal, giving it a depth and contrast that it did not have before. The “Dark-Dark” model, on the other hand, is completely immersed in darkness: from the matte dial to the bridges of the movement, everything is tone on tone, including the enameled tachymeter made of Grand Feu technique. This blackness is not cold, but elegantly mysterious.

Less is more: thinner body, more elegance

The most radical shift is the hand-wound Omega Speedmaster “Dark-Red”, which, thanks to a new mechanism, Calibre 9908 It feels significantly slimmer. At just 13 millimeters thick, the watch truly approaches everyday wearability for the first time, without sacrificing visual power. The red seconds hand and subtle accents act as a hint that black can also be playful.

Moon's view through the skeleton: the new Grey Side aesthetic

On the other side of the color spectrum stands the new Omega Speedmaster “Grey Side of the Moon,” a tribute to the Apollo 8 crew. This model introduces something that has never been seen in this series before: transparency. The skeletonized dial reveals laser-ablated lunar landscapes that stretch across the front and back of the case. It’s a quiet contemplation of the universe, not a spectacle. Everything is more restrained, less flashy than in past gray editions, but at the same time more telling.

Silicon heart: a new generation of mechanisms

The new collection is not just a design exercise, but a technical statement. All models now carry the Master Chronometer certification and are equipped with the latest Co-Axial calibers 9900, 9908 and 3869. The movements are not only more precise, but also thinner, which has allowed for a complete transformation of the watch profile. Omega’s goal is clear: to make the Speedmaster not just a tribute to the past, but a watch of the future.

Ceramics as art, not just technology

All of this is, of course, packaged in ceramic cases, which remain one of the most modern materials in the watchmaking industry. But this time, the ceramic is not just protection, it becomes part of the story: laser-textured surfaces, brushed edges, the contrast between matte and glossy. These are details that you can only see when you actually wear the watch, not just observe it in a window.

A perpetual clock for modern man

Omega's new series is no longer just aimed at collectors or space enthusiasts. These are watches that can be a technical manifesto, but also a fashion statement. These are chronographs that you would be comfortable wearing under a jacket or carrying on a mission in low orbit. They are more than a watch: they are proof that even two decades after the great ceramic revolution, we can still ask what black should really look like.

When the dark side of the moon shines in a new light

The price of entry into this new chapter?

Around $15,700. But what's really important is that the collection has finally felt like it's coming of age. The Dark Side of the Moon has never looked so mature.
