22 things to keep in mind when you're having a really bad day

"There are good days and bad days. The good days pass so quickly! You know that yourself, but you have a hard time coming to terms with it. But the bad days also pass. Why don't you think about it, why don't you take comfort in it?" - Phil Bosmans

1. So many of the best days of your life are still ahead of you

It's all too easy to convince yourself that all the best days of your life are behind you. The truth is that you have some brilliant days ahead of you. Ones you could never have imagined from where you are now. You just have to keep going to get there. Move forward every moment whether it's a bad day or a good day.

2. People can change for the better

We've all messed up at some point in the past and looked for ways to redeem ourselves. You also need to allow others to go through this process. It's not that we're all completely malevolent - it's just that we all move towards the best versions of ourselves at different speeds. And how quickly someone else gets there never reflects on you.

3. For every person who is mean to you, there are many more people around you who lift you up

A basic survival instinct is to soak up the positives and get better from the negatives. You forget that for every person who hurts you, there are an infinite number of people who offer you a hand, hold you, listen, support, encourage you. And those people are the ones who matter and who you should focus on in good times and bad.

4. Emotions are just visitors

How you feel at the moment is not a permanent state. This is a simple value judgment that you are under no obligation to follow. Who you are is not defined by how you feel - you are defined by your reaction to those feelings and your ability to carry on despite them.

5. It doesn't matter what others think

Humans are conditioned to place great emphasis on the judgment of other people, which is a mistake. It's incredibly liberating to realize that focusing on what others think of you is a choice, not a necessity. The only judgment that matters at the end of the day is yours.

6. In the end, you are still in control of your situation

As long as you are breathing, you are still in control of what happens in the next moment. According to Charles R. Swindoll: "Life is 10 % of what happens to you and 90 % of how you react to it." At the end of the day, you are always in the driver's seat of your life, which means you decide whether the thing you are facing is a crippling defeat or just another challenge to face.

7. Sometimes letting go doesn't mean you actually lose anything

The natural tendency of man is to hold on to what he has. But every now and then you owe it to yourself to look at yourself and what you have in your luggage. Ask yourself if what is in it is really worth keeping and keeping within yourself? Often times, shedding just means reducing dead weight. This frees you from the weight of the past and resentment.

8. You can do a lot more than you think

In most cases, lack of confidence holds you back from success. There is a big difference between approaching a situation with the belief that you can handle it competently and gracefully, or with indecision and fear. The latter leads you to unfinished goals and disappointments. Conviction to places you never imagined you could reach.

9. Take time for yourself

Everyone wants, most of the time, to be one step ahead of others. But the truth is, no one is. All people need time to step back and assess the situation they are facing, to regroup before moving forward. These situations are just as necessary for long-term success as those in which people fearlessly step forward. You need to be sure where you're going, and it's good to take the time to figure it out.

10. You don't get anywhere without making some mistakes along the way

You made some mistakes on your way to success. Nevermind. We all make mistakes. Learn from them. It is true that at times you will see many more mistakes than successful moments, but that is worth it. If you fail at something, it means that you are trying, and that is much more than most people do.

11. At least one person can't imagine their life without you

You are never objective judges of your character. On days when you feel completely expendable and useless, it helps to remember that your friends, family members, and loved ones definitely don't feel the same way. You are absolutely indispensable to someone. And that says something about you that cannot be disputed.

12. Even the most successful people have days when they quietly hate life

None of us are exempt, but we all have bad days from time to time. The moments when he prefers to be alone. No one is perfect and doesn't have success in the palm of their hands. Success is a constantly moving target and absolutely no one matches it 100% of the time.

13. Five years from now, you probably won't even remember the struggles you face today

Ten, five, a year from now, the problems that plague you today will likely be nothing more than a distant memory. The storm you're facing always ends, even if you don't feel like it at the moment.

15. If things are bad right now, it's probably because something didn't work out

Being a risk taker is infinitely more important in the long run than any failure or disappointment. Don't discount the long-term consequences of your mindset in the face of short-term setbacks – your determination will ultimately get you past all the obstacles and roadblocks along the way.

16. No one dwells on your situation a tenth as long as you do

Everyone is obsessed with their trials and everyday mistakes. Although we assume that other people are obsessively judging us at all costs, the truth is that they don't think about you half as often as you think. We are all relatively self-employed - with ourselves. And, while this is frustrating at some moments, at others it's a complete relief.

17. Someone envies you

You may not feel like you have it all under control, but someone out there definitely thinks you have everything you want, and everything they want. Which means that no matter how bad you feel, you are actually fooling someone. And that says something about your ability to stay in control under pressure.

18. Your life could be unrecognizable by this time next year

It is almost impossible to predict which chance encounters will happen and change your life. But once things start happening, it can take an incredibly short period of time for everything to start turning around. After six months, your life may be almost unrecognizable, full of happiness and abundance - just keep going and you will get there.

19. You can't get anywhere worth going without being halfway there at some point

Would you like the big changes you dream of – your dream job, perfect body, abundance, health and ideal relationships – to happen in an instant, like in a dream? The truth is, your greatest accomplishments take time—and if you're never in the in-between phase of working toward them, you never get there.

20. As long as you're alive, it's never too late to change the path you're on

At the end of the day, you are the only one stopping you from starting over. And as long as you're still breathing, you're not without the ability to change everything.

21. In general, you're probably doing better than you think you are

So you are not completely great in all aspects of your life. Welcome to being human. Chances are you excel in at least one area – and you should congratulate yourself for that. You can't always have everything.

22. Life is a constant process of reinventing yourself

No one has to change in an instant. You have to try. Work on yourself. You have to keep trying. Keep pushing. Keep falling and get up and fight. This is the meaning of life - in good days and very bad.
