Just over a week ago, one of the biggest film festivals in Slovenia, the Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival, ended. Of course, we worked diligently in both categories, but in the film category we found some interesting examples that can brighten up your evening, especially if you like something unusual.
3 films of Grossmann this year that are worth seeing:
The Evil Within (2017)
Director and screenwriter Andrew Getty spent many years recording his debut album, but due to an addiction to amphetamines, he died, even before the product was finished. In particular, the information about his addiction is very useful before viewing this one horror movies, which follows Dennis, a young man who is mentally handicapped and has constant Nightmares. One day, his image in the mirror begins to urge him to do terrible things, and soon the viewer is caught in a vortex a dream and reality.
Iron Sky (2012)
Not exactly the latest film, but it did make a splash at the festival as part of its director's guest appearance Timoja Vourensole. It is a rejected mixture science fiction and satires, as it follows the Nazis who, after their defeat in World War II, moved to The moon and built a military base there. Now, after many years of waiting, they want to attack and occupy Earth. Another Slovenian contribution to the film: they provided the musical background Laibach. There is also an upcoming sequel in the works next year.
Fashionista (2016)
British an independent film, but set in the USA. April is a young woman who works in a second-hand clothing store, and on top of that, she is obsessed with them. This addiction and personal problems plunge her into dark circles from which she cannot escape. A film with a slow pace, an unusual theme and an interesting ending that makes you think about the whole film.
