Ah, Gordon Ramsay. Angry, critical and relentless Gordon Ramsay. If there's anyone you need to listen to when it comes to a restaurant meal, it's a famous Scottish chef who has no hair on his tongue. And what are Ramsay's three golden rules to follow in a restaurant?
Don't order the 'daily specials'.
Gordon Ramsay says the 'specials' are there to be eaten as soon as possible. If there are 10 specialties on the menu, they are not specialties. A combination of unusual ingredients that you've never seen before? This is probably because the kitchen has to get rid of these ingredients somehow and someone told the chef to use his imagination.
Don't order 'the best from us'.
Even the word best can be misleading. Menus often feature dishes with the adjectives 'famous', 'best', etc., but who can really say that?

The best wine for the lowest price
Ramsay says we should strive to get the best wine for the lowest price. The sommelier can recommend wines, but always ask for the price. If the price of a bottle is under 30 euros, then don't hesitate at all.
What is it that Ramsay wants to teach us? Let's not be naive and they won't empty our pockets. So don't rush and only order the chef's well-known specialties, which you combine with a bottle of red wine, which you order before the sommelier even manages to read the name on the bottle label.
