For the 35th consecutive year, the most important music festival in Central Europe will discover new musical genres and impress with live artistic creativity that combines ethnic and modern melodies from around the world. The festival started with a pre-event in April, which was enjoyed by photography lovers - it will be officially opened on May 21 in Ljubljana by the French band Ar Ker, and will end in Maribor with the South African musicians BCUC. Among the performers are also two Slovenian soloists and one band.
As the organizers of the festival Second band 2019 they like to praise, that's it the most important festival of Central Europe, which with its approach (again) discovers musical embers and thus ranks among the unique events in Slovenian cultural space.
Organizers of the Druga Godba festival since its inception looking for fresh voices, with which they want to offer all visitors insight into musical traditions and culture of nations.
This year's festival Second band 2019 opened as part of the pre-event Tjaš Gnezda, photo shoot, which impressed many participants with photo exhibition Bokamoso (translated from the Sotho language, it means "the future"). In the work, he shows Africa through a brighter perspective, which strongly contradicts the media agenda.
In a series of portraits he captures vitality of personality, hierarchy, the light of the piano resonance, gentrification and melancholy realities in the Johannesburg area Maboneng, the area that transformed into a creative center.
The festival action will officially begin May 21, which will open the festival in Ljubljana French band Ar Ker. The upcoming evenings will feature artists from countries such as Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, and more. A Slovenian group will also perform among them Groceries A big one, soloist Irena Tomažin and Tine Grgurevič, better known by his stage name Bowrain.
The Druga godba 2019 festival will last in Ljubljana until May 24, after which it will be the last the festival evening, which will take place on May 25, is moving to Maribor. It will be solemnly concluded with the South African group BCUC.
