Summer is the perfect time to read books. When in the year are we free for several days in a row, away from the television and the computer, if not in the summer? We don't expect the most influential or richest people to have time for books at any time of the year, but we are clearly wrong. At least for one of them. Bill Gates is not only known as the co-founder of Microsoft, but also as a "bookphile". Every year, he shares with the public a list of books he recommends for reading. Gates says that he has recently read many books that talk about an individual's various life experiences and how they shape and mark us. He adds that the content of the books provoked thinking about the future of humanity and the path we will take. One of those books is Born A Crime, by the author by Trevor Noah, the host of the famous TV show The Daily Show. The son of a black South African mother and a white father from Switzerland, Noah grew up in the Republic of South Africa, which at the time provided a rather dangerous environment for racially mixed families. Namely, he describes stories that reflect his constant feeling of not belonging. The next book is The Heart (Maylis de Kerangal), in which the story revolves around a young man who dies in an accident, and his parents decide to donate his heart for a transplant. But you will be touched above all by the beautiful language with which the author describes the feelings of the people who appear in the story, even if only for a moment.
There are still three other books Hillbilly Elegy (JDVance), Homo Deus (Yuval Noah Harari) and A Full Life (Jimmy Carter). Especially the latter could be interesting, since the author is a former American president.
