If you don't have any travel plans for fall vacation, but you don't want to spend all the time at home, then day trips are perfect for you. Check out five tours that take you to the sights of neighboring countries.

Miramar Castle

The fairytale castle, whose name is translated from Spanish as "View of the sea", was built in 1860 by Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg-Lorraine. The mighty white castle lies right next to the sea and flirts with magnificent views of the sea horizon. Today, the castle houses a museum that testifies to the wealth of its former owners, and in which you can admire antique furniture and rich works of art. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden, which in the autumn months is dressed in a colorful palette of autumn colors.

Devin Castle

Another castle is hidden near our western neighbors, which is also worth visiting in autumn. The castle from the second half of the 14th century was once owned by the Thurn und Taxis noble family, and it stands on a steep karst ridge. His position is no accident. From here, its inhabitants had a good overview of enemy ships and troops. The picturesque Rilke path, named after the poet Rainer Maria Rilke, leads to the castle.

Threatened

In the hinterland of Croatian Istria, not far from the border with Slovenia, you can find a medieval town, which nowadays is considered a real little paradise for artists and filmmakers. A number of galleries await you in it, and classical and jazz tunes echo through the streets of Grozmnjan. The town is spread over a small hill and offers picturesque views of the countryside, olive groves and vineyards.

Styrassic Park

An hour's drive from Maribor, in Austria's Bad Gleichenberg, there is a dinosaur park. A trip suitable especially for the youngest members of the family, it will not leave you indifferent either. Located at the foot of an ancient volcano, the park offers a series of trails that lead through a beautifully landscaped complex with over 90 life-size dinosaur statues. At every step, you will be greeted by informative boards, also with inscriptions in the Slovenian language.

Abbey

Sea air, crystal clear sea and the sound of seagulls. This is Opatija. With the 12-kilometer "Lungomare" or the walking path that leads right next to the sea becomes a popular destination for autumn days, not just summer days. The pearl of Kvarner is distinguished by a series of Art Nouveau buildings that bear witness to the wealth of the once fashionable resort of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. Even today, the Croatian "Monte Carlo" attracts the cream of the crop from all over the world.
