Have you always wanted your curls to look like the people on the covers? Just for you, the famous hairdresser revealed how to have perfect curls with minimal effort.
Curls never go out of style. Whether you have curly or slightly wavy hair, the way you style it is key.
Celebrity hairstylist Larry King, who has worked with famous faces from Karlie Kloss to Jared Leto, shared 5 tips for the most beautiful curls online for Vogue. How you handle your curly hair is key to maintaining your hairstyle.
1. Do not dry your hair with a towel
She advises to avoid drying your hair with a towel. Instead, wring them out with your hands to squeeze out excess water and leave your hair damp and wet. After that, apply a curly hair product to maintain the curl pattern and tame unmanageable hair.
As you dry them, you'll find that there's often a stage where they look like a mess - don't give up, as they dry, they'll start to change, morph. They will suddenly look amazing.
2. Use the right product
Use products that will improve the appearance and structure of the curls. Look for oils and anything that offers heat protection because curly hair is more porous. Apply this liberally to the strands and distribute the product throughout the hair.
3. Hair is everything
It's simple and it might sound weird, but find a hairstylist who really understands curls. Having a good hairstyle is very important.
4. Twist your hair
Always work the strands of hair with your fingers, but don't twist them all. You mix the twisted random strands with other hair that dries without any intervention, a beautiful hair structure will be created.
Once the hair is curled, begin blow drying with a diffuser attachment. Start on high and heat up the dryer, then lower it to set the hair more evenly, being careful not to touch it with your hands as this can cause the hair to curl again. Let the diffuser do all the work for you.
5. Hair massage
Finish by rubbing oil or cream into the hair. Use your fingers to gently massage the roots and ends to lift the hair and create maximum volume.
