These five revolutionary inventions were invented by women. These are extremely useful things that we use every day!
The contribution of women throughout history is very important, their ideas and achievements must be emphasized, because sometimes we don't even know that a woman and not a man is behind a certain thing.
Let's look at just a few examples where women were brilliant and made life easier for humanity with their ideas.
Coffee filters
In 1908, Melitta Bentz was looking for a tastier way to drink this popular drink. She did not like the bitter taste of the coffee and the grains of sediment that accumulated at the bottom of the cup or were still floating in the liquid. So she started experimenting with blotting paper sheets.
By drilling holes in the bottom of a brass cup and placing paper underneath, she found a solution and created a paper coffee filter. She received a patent for her invention and started her own coffee filtering company.
Monopolies
Elizabeth Maggie designed the first version of the game and patented it in 1904 as The Landlord's Game. She designed the game to educate the general public about the economic inequality of the population. She sold the patent to Brothers Brothers for $500.
Thirty years later, Charles Darrow renamed the game and transformed the concept into Monopoly. He sold it to the Parker brothers in 1935, without even mentioning the original name The Landlord's Game.
Wipers
During a visit to New York in 1902, Marie Anderson of Alabama noticed delays caused by motorists stopping to clear snow and water from their windshields. She drew a solution - a mop with a broom.
Anderson received a patent for this invention in 1903. At first they made fun of it, but later they realized how necessary and important wipers are for safe driving.
Wireless technology
Hedi Lamar is responsible for Wi-Fi. The actress was known for her roles on the big screen, but she was more than just a pretty face. In fact, Hollywood bored her. During the First World War, she co-created "Broadband Radio" with George Anteil - a broad spectrum radio transmitter.
The system was designed to accurately guide the torpedo via radio signals.
Programming language and computer software
dr. Grace Hopper was a math and physics professor and helped create the first computer software. In 1953, she invented a program called a translator that translated human instructions into computer source code. Her work led to the development of a universal computer language.
