The end of February this year also marks the end of winter and the call of spring. Kurents will dance in the oldest Slovenian city on February 23 and start calling for spring and all good things. During the 59th Kurentovanje 2019, as part of Artfest, Etnofest and Karnevalfest, you will be part of ethnographic and carnival processions, concerts, masked dances, you will also be able to see exhibitions, ethnographic characters, carnival baskets and much more.
Curing It's 2019 the central spring cultural-ethnographic festival of national importance, which UNESCO listed on Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, lonely planet defined as one of the ten most interesting carnivals in the world.
During the festival, the the city and its surroundings many events: ethnographic and carnival processions, carnival corso and presentations of ethnographic characters, concerts and masked dances, many others carnival events, performances and interventions.
The carnival will start already February 2 with Kuren's Jump, on which every year around 300 Kurents gather for a midnight mystical experience, in which they put on their clothes for the first time in a year bells, they dance by the fire and start driving away winter and evil by ringing loudly. A few days later, February 23rd, and it will start at 11 o'clock the opening ethnic procession, which will be followed in the following days city carnival corso, international carnival parade, precipitation and, of course the burial of Pust.
During the 59th curation, there will be from From February 15 to March 4, concerts and children's parties were held in the QCENTER Carnival Hall.
