A private island that you can have too

Sea level rise is one of the biggest problems that will soon have to be faced. In Denmark, they don't want to leave anything to chance, so they decided to start making wooden islands.

He designed the floating platform Marshall Blecher in cooperation with the company Foxtrot. With it, he wants to offer a new form public space in the port of Copenhagen. He named his product Ø1, which means island in Danish. The facility is intended for everyone, but so far it has been used mainly for stargazing, barbecuing, winter swimming, fishing and for some local events.

Ø1 is supposed to be a prototype for a series of wooden platforms that will be proliferated around the harbor as part of the project in the future Copenhagen Islands. The surface area of a floating object is 25 square meters. In its middle we can notice A 6 meter tall lime tree. Ø1 was produced manually, which is admirable in this day and age.

The idea was supported by the Danish Foundation for the Arts Statens Kunstfond and the project Kulturhavn365, which strives for the cultural development of the city.

Platforms built in the future will also have them sauna, garden, shellfish pond and an additional platform for water sports. During major events, the islands could be combined into a large platform. In this way, the sea and the coast will become more and more connected.
