A stunning museum carved into a mountain

Kronplatz will no longer be famous only for the wild rooster in its image, chocolates in the form of carving skis, egg Bombardines and in general as an excellent Italian ski destination in South Tyrol. The Messner Mountain Museum Corones will soon be there in all its awesomeness.

Consecrated mountaineering, will fascinate with its architectural appearance in a thematically appropriate location. The unique composition of fluid, interconnected structures will be carved into an actual mountainside, while the entrance glass canopy resembles a glistening ice surface. Glass thus represents the red thread, discovering the beauty of nature, both inside and outside. The internal winding hump will connect a labyrinth of temporary and permanent exhibition spaces, Messner's archive of objects and photographs, and an auditorium.

But the most wonderful attribute of the new museum will definitely be the 240-degree panorama of the surrounding high mountain landscape, where the Zillertal Alps, Dolomites and the famous Marmolada glacier. The central purpose of the project is to introduce a cultural and educational note into it a popular alpine destination.
