A carbon dioxide-absorbing plateau is said to have grown over Turin

Air pollution is considered one of the most pressing global problems, as it harms the health of living beings. With the rapid increase in the number of the population, the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is becoming more and more difficult to contain.

Architect Angelo Renna has found an interesting solution that could help k reducing the level of carbon dioxide in the air. In Italian Turin he wants to build something very special artificial plateau.

During construction 90 meters the elevations would use the soil excavated for the needs of the underground railway between Turin and Lyon. A spongy plateau with a surface 11 hectares it should be due to merit processed fingers, which is a set sand and of concrete, was able to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. For the inhabitants of Turin, this plateau will not be just cleansing organism, but also walking area and viewpoint.

Research within the project Success have shown that the soil is capable of annually storing 85 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare. Given that a hectare of land in the rainforest absorbs only 5 tons of carbon dioxide, the technology could prove extremely important.
