Honey has many healing effects, according to the latest study by Canadian researchers.

Is honey a healthy sweetener? It is clear that sweeteners and sugar are quite unhealthy. Artificial sweeteners like aspartame are said to trigger a greater need for real sugar in our body.

A 2007 study published in Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, she described sugar as "a substance that releases opioids and dopamine and has the potential to be addictive." However, according to the results of some research, sugar increases the risk of heart disease, contributes to weight gain, causes caries and does not contribute to better health of the body in any way.

But this obviously does not apply to all sweeteners. The latest study by Canadian researchers, published in Nutrition Reviews, is supposed to investigate the positive effects of honey consumption.

The scientists wanted to find out how the consumption of honey affects certain cardiometabolic risk factors. Including blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels. After evaluating the data, the researchers found that honey can improve glycemic control (blood sugar) and lipid (cholesterol) levels.

In contrast to sugar, which (probably) does not provide any health benefits, the consumption of honey is clearly much more beneficial. "Honey is a complex composition of sugars (common and rare), organic acids, enzymes, proteins, amino acids, minerals, vitamins and bioactive substances that are absorbed by honeybees from the nectar of flowers," the researchers wrote in the explanation, adding that some of these ingredients have their own benefits and can help the body to metabolize the sugar content in the best possible way.
