Acura RSX Prototype EV 2026 – back in the game, this time electric and with the new ASIMO OS

First Acura on its own global EV platform, with dual-motor, Brembo and V2H promise

The Acura RSX nameplate is back—not as a poster coupe from the 2000s, but as a sharply sculpted electric crossover on an all-new Honda platform. If you were expecting nostalgia, you get faster data transfer and two-way charging.

Acura RSX Prototype is the first Acura developed “from the ground up” on a new Honda's global EV platforms, the same foundation that will carry future models Honda 0/ZeroWith it, Honda and Acura switch from GM's Ultium story (ZDX, Prologue) to own hardware and software. This is a strategic shift: more control over the battery pack, chassis and most importantly – software-upgraded features. It debuts on Monterey Car Week, among others, on The Quail and in the set Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Acura RSX production target: second half of 2026, production in Ohio

Serial Acura RSX will be on the assembly line as planned in second half of 2026 in Honda EV Hub in Ohio (Marysville Auto Plant) – on the same line as IntegraHonda also introduces a new flexible production, which allows the construction ICE, hybrids and BEVs on one line with minimal tool changes. Translation: less PowerPoint, more cars.

Drivetrain and chassis: dual-engine, AWD and Brembo as standard

Acura confirms dual-motor four-wheel drive and double wishbone front – sporty geometry that is not just for the catalog. More sources add Brembo front and 21-inch rims, which on the prototype acts as a good promise of a series version. Yes, it's that "Precision Crafted Performance" recipe, only now it's quiet and gearless.

ASIMO OS: the brain of the car (and a little more)

New software platform ASIMO OS – first announced on CES 2025 – is Acura's leap into the era Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV). We're talking about OTA updates (over-the-air), machine learning for driving personalization and the integration of assistance systems and infotainment into a single operating system. In the future, this OS will also power models Honda 0. The robot was retired, its name went to the control panel.

Charging and bidirectional energy (V2H/V2L)

Acura for RSX predicts bidirectional charging. This means that the car will serve as mobile energy storage device – from powering devices (V2L) to backup power supply at home (V2H)Details (power, standards, inverter) have not yet been announced, but the direction is clear: EV is no longer just a consumer, but also resource.

Design: coupe-roof, NSX “lightbar” and Propulsion Yellow Pearl

The prototype is presented in color Propulsion Yellow Pearl with a distinct fastback roof, cleaned surfaces and full width LED tail light – tribute NSX. The photos show 21-inch bikes and “big ones” Brembo calipers; we expect the production car to get some sharper edges and realistic tire height.

What about the numbers?

Acura today (yet) does not disclose battery (kWh), range (km/mi), 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph), final speed (km/h; mph) or power (kW; hp) – this comes with the series launch. Some media speculate that the RSX will more powerful than ZDX A‑Spec (this one has 358 hp (267 kW)), but that's it for now working scenario, not a datasheet.

“This is not the RSX from the days of CD changers, but the RSX that updates itself.”

Brief context: why the RSX when there's already an Integra and a ZDX?
Integra (still petrol) remains a light, playful entry into the brand. ZDX is the first EV (built on GM Ultium), which put Acura in the electric car category. RSX is another story: first Acura EV on its own platform, with its own operating system and its own factory strategy. This is reset brands in a direction where software and architecture are native, not borrowed.

When, where, how: Acura RSX

Public disclosure: Monterey Car Week (The Quail, Pebble Beach).
Start of production: H2‑2026, Marysville Auto Plant, Ohio; on same line as Integra (flexible production of ICE/HEV/BEV).
Chassis basics: double cross guides, Brembo, AWD with two engines.
Software: ASIMO OS with OTA, ML and SDV philosophy.
Energy: promised bidirectional charging (V2H/V2L), details to follow.

Conclusion: Acura RSX

RSX is less a “reincarnation of a coupe” and more the first true Acura EV manifesto: own platform, ASIMO OS, AWD with dual engine, Brembo, double wishbone and V2H – these are serious cuts. The sources agree: Technical information (kWh, power, Nm (lb‑ft), 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph), final speed (km/h; mph), range, charging speeds) will only be announced with the serial presentation, but the direction is clear. If it was ZDX (358 hp/267 kW) pilot project on foreign hardware, it is RSX reset button – Acura, which finally uses your own platform and own OS. Expect a price in the range premium EV crossovers medium-sized; the exact number, like acceleration and kWh, still rests in the PR safe. Until then, the RSX remains the most promising yellow card Acura has shown in the last decade.
