As we celebrate 75 years of Abarth, you'd think the party would be quiet, but no, the Alfa Romeo 4C is back in action, this time dressed in Abarth colors - as the Fiat-Abarth OT 1300. It sounds like a story from a good old movie about cars, right?
Stellantis Heritage revealed its cards: "We will assemble five exclusive examples from already registered Alfa Romeo 4Cs, which are barely warmed up with a low number of kilometers and will now be additionally lipsticked under our hands." We will change them to Fiat-Abarth OT 1300.
Although the 4C was retired in 2020, this mid-engined coupe is making a comeback in style. Like that uncle at family gatherings who always shows up unannounced with a bag full of tricks - the 4C is coming back in 2024, but this time with an Abarth stamp, in celebration of the brand's 75th anniversary. And as always, it returns chic and charming, in a modern tribute Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 from 1965, based on the 4C.
The return of the 4C is not new, as we already saw a similar idea in 2021 with the Abarth Classiche 1000 SP, which was a convertible. It's obvious that at Stellantis, they can't part with their little toys, no matter how much they want to. And while the insect headlight design isn't to everyone's taste (who actually wants to look like a fly?), we have to admit that the rest of the car looks downright fantastic.
The Abarth Classiche 1300 OT sports a carbon fiber body, rear vents and a periscopic air intake that pays homage to the famous racing cars of the 60s. But don't get confused, this is not a regular 4C, but a 4C on steroids with a big Abarth logo on the back so you don't think it's some average Alfa. And no, don't look for Alfa Romeo badges because they've been swapped for Abarth Scorpions.
Despite the fact that the 4C was officially withdrawn from the US market back in 2019, it still likes to appear on the sales charts - a bit like those movie villains that you can never quite get out of your head. The car is simply a legend.
Although Abarth has already jumped on the electric bandwagon with models like the 500e and the 600e crossover, they still offer their petrol variants of the 500. The 1300 OT will join the fleet for a short time, as only five units will be built. Before production starts, a scale model has already been shown at Stellantis' Heritage Hub in Turin this weekend.
They are already accepting orders, but they are still keeping the prices a secret, like some good family recipe.
