Car restaurants in mode restmod, in which new, modern components are added to iconic models during renovations, are becoming more common and popular. No wonder, because it is sometimes easier to develop and manufacture new parts than to search for originals that are sometimes extremely rare. And at Totem Automobiles, they went one step further. For their first project, they decided to do something practically "incompatible": v Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA from the 70s of the last century, they installed an electric drive with a power of 525 HP!
What is restmod?
Restomod is a relatively new trend in the world of collector vehicles. Contrary to the enthusiasm of the originals, this one mixes old and new technology to create the best of both worlds, where classic style meets modern comfort, performance and reliability. From giant, retro-styled rims to Singer's hand-built Porsches. A trend that will catch on extremely well in the following years.
Let's go in order. In order for such a car to be able to withstand 525 hp under the hood, a whole series of finishing touches had to be made. Thus, according to the company, only 10 percent of the parts remained original. In addition, the entire suspension has been changed - MacPherson struts at the front and multilink at the rear are installed, and new Bilstein shock absorbers are also available.
Stock engine with power 192 hp replaced the electric motor with power 525 hp, combined with battery s 50.4 kWh. The manufacturer Totem points out that it is also possible to get a "fake" gasoline engine sound for all those who do not want to drive in silence. Drivers will be able to use acceleration control, and there will also be a sliding or drifting mode! It is interesting that the official numbers are also published. That's what they claim this model can achieve 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, while the maximum speed is just 245 km/h. Being an electric car, we should also mention that the range on a single charge is solid 360 km.
In addition to the unusual drive, this conversion also received modern elements on the exterior. So the new ones dominate the front LED lights, and there are also various visual additions to the bodywork. Inside there is a sports steering wheel Momo, air conditioning and the "keyless go" system.
The price is not yet known, but we are sure that a buyer will be found regardless of the latter.
