A GREEN STOP IN THE CITY Ever since last October, Ljubljana's city center has been enriched by another corner with Italian, more specifically, Tuscan cuisine. We are talking about Allegria in Nazorjeva Street, in the expanded premises of the former Tramontana. In a pleasant atmosphere, which can accommodate up to 120 guests on the ground floor and in the basement, and up to 160 guests in the warmer months, when the garden will also be opened, they prepare a selection of a variety of food that is very popular among Slovenians. For quick lunches, they prepare vegetable-based salads, risottos and pasta. The specialty of their food is the preparation of vegetables, which are all cooked without water to preserve the full flavor and as many vitamins as possible; some ingredients, such as young oil (with the taste of fresh plums), sienna cheese, sheep's cheese and truffle honey, are sourced directly from Tuscany. For the spring time, they promise to enrich the menu with many novelties. Lovers of meat dishes, in particular, will benefit, as they have brought many recipes for venison from Tuscany. They will also complement the range of desserts, among which the menu will include madrolet - a dessert made of chocolate, almonds and honey - and tuscanita 'e vin santo - Tuscan cookies cantucci, panforte, ricciarelli and cavalluci, cut into pieces and served on a large plate, with a glass of sweet dessert wine (prošek) in the middle, in which we dip the cookies to express the fullness of the flavors.
