The Alpine A110 R is proof that a car can be improved by measures other than just adding power. The A110 R is based on the A110 S version, which received a generous "weight loss treatment".
Alpine A110 R has lost enviable 34 kilograms and weighs only 1,082 kilograms. The ʺengine coverʺ made of carbon fiber is lighter for 2.9 kilograms, 18-inch the rims, also made of carbon fiber, are much lighter 12.5 kilograms. At the expense of weight, the view of what is happening behind the car will also suffer a bit, as the engineers decided to remove the rear window. The interior has built-in Sabelt Track sports seats, which are made of carbon fiber and lighter 5 kilograms. The driver and passenger protect themselves with 6-point seat belts, and the seats offer them ample lumbar support.
The Alpine A110 R needs to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h everything 3.9 seconds and reaches top speed 285 km/h. The R version has 10 mm less ground clearance, and thanks to the flexible chassis, it can be lowered by an additional 10 mm.
At the presentation of the Alpine A110 R, a special version was also presented, Alpine A110 R Fernando Alonso. It will only be available 32 specimens, as Fernando Alonso has scored as many victories in the Formula 1 championship. In France, the Alpine A110 R will cost around 105,000 euros, and the special version Alonso just 148,000 euros. Fernando Alonso's Alpine has the same engine and likewise 300 horsepower, but has some modified details, and the famous racer's signature can be found on the back of the car and on the seat cushions.
