Exhibition of photographic projects of the Canon Youth Program

Canon Adria presented an outdoor exhibition on Gallus embankment in Ljubljana in honor of the participants in Canon's youth program 2022/2023. Under the careful guidance of mentor Matic Borković, photographer and creative director of the Carinthian video production 8Production, using Canon equipment, ten young people depicted nine stories related to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN), as seen and perceived through the camera lens.

Young people thus contribute to a better world for all through small good deeds, contributions to charity and cooperation with local organizations. The purpose of the exhibition is to recognize small actions in the stories that can make a big difference in everyday life. For a better world for all.

"I am proud and grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in this project, because together with young people, we prepared 9 exceptional stories that hold up a mirror to us and encourage us to co-create a better and more beautiful world for everyone. The resulting photos are based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, so together with young people, we made a critical reflection on the most important topics of today and our common future.
I was very surprised by the breadth that young people have in thinking about such topics, and it was a challenge for me to help them take really good and creatively designed photographs, which convey a message to a wider audience.
Photos have an extraordinary power of communication, especially if they are printed and put on display, so I am especially happy that - with the support of the public institution Turizem Ljubljana and Canon Pro partner Foto Format - we were able to print them in an extremely large format and exhibit them at one of the most frequented locations in Ljubljana, on the Gallus embankment.
On this occasion, I invite you to take a walk around the exhibition, and when one of the topics particularly touches you, you can scan the QR code next to the selected story, and it will take you to one of the videos that we have prepared as short stories for each participant.
All the participants entered the implementation of the program with a lot of heart, and at the same time we are really keeping our fingers crossed that with the resulting results we can make a - even if only a small - but definitely important positive difference in this world."
he said Matic Borković.

You can admire the photos and their stories on the Gallus embankment in Ljubljana until the end of October 2023.

About the Canon Youth Program

Together with more than 50 partners in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Canon supports more than 4,500 young people to create new opportunities for themselves and their communities. The Canon Youth Program is part of Canon's global campaign “Inspiring a World of Change” and serves the goal “For the Future of People”.

"We are happy that Canon's program for young people is developing and growing together with the children here. We are aware of how important this stage of development is in their lives, so we want to offer them the opportunity to gain knowledge about the fascinating world of photography. Each of them has an infinite number of stories that they want to express through photography, and in each of them lies the desire to contribute to changes that lead to a better future for all of us. At Canon, we encourage them to do so with the knowledge, tools and platforms that allow them to share their stories with the world and thus create new opportunities for us all. We sincerely congratulate the participants in Canon's youth program and look forward to following their further photo adventures." he said Goran Sretenoski, managing director of Canon Adria.
