Animals that are blacker than night probably have quite a bit of trouble camouflaging themselves in their natural environment. Fortunately, this is all the better for passers-by, as they are easier to spot and photograph, sharing their priceless beauty with the rest of the world.

In the latter patient, there is a lack of pigment, while in melanism it is producing extremely dark pigment.
