LADY OF SLOVENIAN CUISINE Mama Ančka used to offer her masterpieces to random eaters. Today, her inn, in the guise of a prestigious restaurant, prepares Slovenian dishes as top specialties, so reserve your booth and go for Sunday lunch with your family. The day before, after a Saturday stroll through the Gorenja highlands, come and be intoxicated by the fragrant smells of hearty home-made food. So you are invited in the evening or in a sporty mood. With its 36-year tradition, Gostilna Ančka impresses a variety of guests. They serve you a bowl of veal stew with buckwheat brandy and a duo of štrukljes. You will come back to them again, of course, because of Ančka's traditional štrukljes, which impress you with their unique softness in a rich assortment of delicious fillings. Sweet or salty štrukli, which can be buckwheat, chocolate, cheese or chives, can be cooked for you at your request. Guests in the company of friends or family are offered a range of selected rich Gorenja masterpieces and štruklje are served at least as a taste or dessert. The pork roast with cabbage, blood beef with turnips, venison in hunting sauce, stewed beef in spicy sauce, Ančka steak and, first of all, farm venison in a remarkable composition of Carniola sausage, smoked pork ribs, roast beef, bread dumplings and sauerkraut are enchanting. Satisfied guests at Ančka's are pampered with homemade garlic and buckwheat bread, and with their extensive experience they also know how to understand wine. Among the desserts, of course, there are magnificent štruklji, on special days, Ančka's rich walnut potica and baked porridge with apples are suitable for different tastes. Gostilna Ančka is just a turn off the highway next to Brnik International Airport.
