Apple Intelligence 2025: 7 key innovations of the new era of Apple AI on iOS, macOS, iPadOS and watchOS

From a fluid “Liquid Glass” design to real-time translations and a personal trainer on your wrist – Apple Intelligence is expanding horizons, but Siri is still waiting for its breakthrough.

WWDC 2025 brought a slew of smaller but useful AI upgrades, from live translations in messages and calls to personalized coaching with the Apple Watch. While the core Siri upgrade is still pending, the building blocks of the future revolution are already in place.

If you named last year Apple Intelligence for wasted potential, this year is not the time for disappointment, but for a thoughtful entry. Apple it didn't change all the games - but it quietly put them on a new and shiny foundation that works just right in many details: fluid, local, private. Apple is slow on AI, but it's betting on slow, almost imperceptible integration in the background. Maybe that's right.

Apple Intelligence 2025

1. Liquid Glass – a new visual image

Apple's OSes have been given a new "glassy" look that runs through iOS 26, macOS 26, iPadOS 26, and watchOS 26. The new "Liquid Glass" is more like makeup - offering a transparent, bright design with depth, as if you were holding an optical crystal. The change is cosmetic, but it gives the OS a more elegant feel and consistency. Here, Apple Intelligence 2025 has not overextended its legs.

2. Live Translation – language is no longer a barrier

AI's biggest leap: the ability to instantly translate text messages, FaceTime calls, and traditional phone calls—all offline, locally on the device. We listen to the translation, not watch it—a useful solution in an emergency.

3. Genmoji & Image Playground – creativity in messaging

Genmoji is evolving – audibly and visually: it combines several emoji key symbols, creates new ones from descriptions, recognizes friends' portraits, and creates customized emojis. Image Playground is getting a GPT-style upgrade – support ChatGPT for oils, vectors, photorealism. Of course, all with your approval and local processing.

4. Visual Intelligence – understanding the screen

Exclusively for iPhone 16 (and later) – the user takes a screenshot and can immediately ask the AI: “What is this?” ChatGPT analyzes and finds information about what you see. A perfect ally for research without copying content elsewhere. First serious use – Apple Intelligence 2025.

5. Workout Buddy – AI trainer on your wrist

Apple Watch is getting a personal trainer that reads your workout in real time, evaluates endurance, heart rate, pace, and gives voice praise or advice - "our sports friend", a data-based structure and AI generates tone similar to Fitness+ trainers. For now, in English for various workouts (running, HIIT, cycling...).

6. Apple Intelligence for Developers

Apple is opening up its “Foundation Models Framework”: developers can use its LLMs locally, without API fees, even without an internet connection. This enables learning applications (e.g. automatic generation of quizzes from notes), image and speech in their own products. This is also seriously important, and this is where Apple Intelligence 2025 shines.

7. Shortcuts – smarter automations

Shortcuts now integrates Apple Intelligence and even ChatGPT – meaning smarter, contextual, multi-step automations that adapt to the user. Your routines are just getting started…

Critical View: Siri is still that year

Biggest disappointment: Siri upgrade… not yet. Analysts and stock market investors were cool-headed: shares fell 1.5% % because, after all, Apple didn’t offer a big AI Siri revolution. Federighi pointed out that the new Siri still requires time and consistent quality. Siri seems to be waiting for its moment – but it will only come when the pieces align.

Conclusion: Does Apple believe in AI?

Apple Intelligence 2025 was refined, not transformed. It brought practical AI goodies – stylishly fresh, self-sufficient features, securely integrated. Real-time translation, a reflex trainer on the wrist and image-textual creativity – all of this works like John Cleese trying to explain quantum physics: non-violent, amazed and surprising – without smoke and fire. Siri still needs another “re-exam”, but in the meantime Apple is filling the bases and waiting for them to launch with the next big steps.
