Apple iPhone Fold coming 2026: The most expensive iPhone ever will fold, but your bank account might not survive it

The first foldable iPhone will be thinner than your patience

What do we get when Apple delays for years and then finally introduces something that Samsung has been selling since the days of the TikTok Dance Challenge? Probably something very valuable. The Apple iPhone Fold is coming in 2026 - but first - the Apple iPhone Air, which will likely be the basis for an ultra-thin foldable phone.

Apple, the king of slow-cooking innovation, is (finally!) preparing to enter the world of foldable phones.  Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max 2026 is coming! If we believe the latest information from reliable sources (read: from the same internet where the flat Earth theory originated), the first foldable iPhone – unofficially called iPhone 11 – expected to see the light of day in late 2026 or early 2027. And yes, of course it will be expensive. Very expensive.

Apple + Samsung + LG = new foldable beast

Apple has been forging partnerships with the best in the industry for years.

industry – Samsung (yes, that Samsung) and LG – with one goal in mind: to create a foldable display that doesn’t look like someone ran over it with a bicycle. Samsung is said to be supplying the OLED displays, as it has more experience with the Fold and Flip series than most people with natural tanning. So the Apple iPhone Fold is coming in 2026 – also with the help of solid partners.

Apple iPhone Fold coming in 2026: dual screens for double the use (and double the price)

The iPhone Fold will apparently be equipped with two screens:

  • External display: 5.5-inch, suitable for quickly checking notifications, weather apps, and of course – for watching yourself while watching yourself.
  • Indoor foldable screen: 7.8-inch OLED, almost like a mini iPad, except you can fold it like a book without a guilty conscience.

Both screens are said to have the high resolution and pixel density we've come to expect from Apple - so something that will look stunning until your child spills apple juice all over the device.

A fold without a fold? Magic (and liquid metal hinges)

Apple reportedly developing display technology without visible crease – almost like a miracle, if you don't remember that Apple was the one who announced the AirPower charger three years ago. The key to success is supposedly in the courses from liquid metal alloy, which is twice as strong as titanium (but probably no more resistant to falls from the third floor).

Bonus: Apple has patents for self-refreshing screen, which heals micro-scratches on its own. Finally, something that behaves more grown-up than we do.

Dimensions: thinner than a catwalk in Paris

The folded iPhone Fold is said to be between 9 and 9.5 mm, but only stretched 4.5mmIf true, this will be the thinnest iPhone ever – and perhaps the only one you'll accidentally use as a letter opener.

Energy efficiency: thinner battery, more power

Apple is developing a new system with advanced 16nm DDI chips, which reduce consumption and enable the use of thinner batteries. There is talk of flexible batteries capacities 5,000 mAh, which would be the first Apple device that won't die in the middle of your day.

Cameras: one in, two out, all smart

  • Outdoor camera: classic selfie camera with a cutout in the screen.
  • Indoor camera: supposedly hidden under the screen, with “Meta Lens” technology (whatever that means, but it sounds futuristic).
  • Rear sensors: main and ultra-wide, because apparently life is too short for narrow shots.

Price: Let's just say your bank account won't be impressed

The iPhone Fold is said to stand between 2,000 and 2,500 US dollars – which means between 1,850 and 2,300 euros, depending on the course and your willingness to risk personal financial ruin.

That makes it the most expensive iPhone ever. Yes, more expensive than some MacBooks. Apple is clearly counting on you not needing a vacation. And honestly, with the iPhone Fold in your hand, you might not need one.

Competition? Samsung already reigns supreme, but Apple will make waves

Samsung has had a nearly decade-long lead with the Fold and Flip, but Apple is banking on its loyal fan base. Analysts predict up to 5 million units sold in the first year, with the possibility of a second generation already in 2027.

Conclusion: Will Apple finally ditch the ego or just the screen?

The iPhone Fold will undoubtedly be a technological treat – sleek, thin, expensive as sin and imbued with Apple’s signature sense of “less is more, except when it comes to price.” If Apple manages to deliver on everything it promises (without delays and “select markets”), 2026 will see the beginning of a new foldable era – an era where the phone will also be a fashion accessory, a status symbol and, frankly, a new form of ego indulgence.
